Yes. Vegetable fritters (usually, although I think you can also have fish pakora) fried in a chickpea batter. Very yummy.

I need a "food" userpic. This one will have to do; at least I was slicing a pie at the time.

Hmmm, I hadn't thought of painting people with tamarind chutney, but I like the idea! I'm quite fond of tamarind chutney. I bet it tastes better than artificial vanilla. Now I'm wondering whether the Bread and Circus near work carries tamarind chutney.
