Lovely dinner with [livejournal.com profile] zzbottom tonight at East Coast Grill. I’d never eaten there before; the food was really good. It was great to get a chance to catch up with [livejournal.com profile] zzbottom!

Tomorrow I get to get up way too early to let the plumber in to fix the furnace. I’m taking the day off work for that and to get the house ready for [livejournal.com profile] docorion and myself ready for Arisia, both of which I am tremendously looking forward to. So time to sleep now. Wow! A post by me that didn’t go on for pages and pages!

Oh, I didn’t hear much about the inauguration, but I did hear something about how Bush said the trains were going to run on time. Kinda hard to believe, but I guess history will be the judge.

I am very excited to see you this weekend, sweetie!

With the drug weirdness I never know if I'm going to need more sleep or less, so I've been going to bed really early. I think Jim and I went to bed around 9:30 or so. I woke up around four, tried to go back to sleep for a while then gave up and puttered around on the 'puter. I did go back to sleep around six, though.

No, I imagine a cold waterbed would not be very much fun. And a waterbed as large as yours would require quite the group to heat it up. I don't think the two of us could manage on our own.

The trains run on time? Not bloody likely. Bush may be fascist but he is hardly an efficient or competent one (unlike Mussolini). Besides, Republicans have been itching to kill Amtrak for years. Now's their chance. More likely that the trains (and much else) will cease to run.

Could be. My understanding of the phrase was that the fascists substituted economic security for political freedom. Why worry about such trivia as liberty when the economy is doing so well? At least in Germany, the Nazis did make a lot of economic progress at first (of course, this was after the debacle of the Weimar Republic and its hyperinflation). I really don't know what the Italian experience was.
