What an awful, awful night I had last night. I’d had a mild sore throat off and on on Tuesday, and a brief period when I felt a bit feverish, but wasn't feeling too bad. At dinner Tuesday night I was really tired, but I’m often really tired, so that didn’t mean much. But last night was just dreadful. The sore throat got lots worse, and I couldn't keep the least little bit of water down. Lying in my nice warm waterbed under the covers I got chills, and when I had to run to the bathroom to pee or throw up I’d shiver uncontrollably for five minutes or so after I got back in bed. Needless to say, I got very little sleep until the vomiting and chills stopped around 6:00am or 8:00am. By 1:30 this afternoon, when I woke up and decided I should send mail to work to let them know I wasn’t going to be coming in (I’d sent them a heads-up that I might not make it the night before), I was feeling a lot better and was able to drink a yogurt shake, although my sore throat was really bad. I actually got out of bed more than just to run to the bathroom or grab something from the fridge just now (around 7:00pm), and my throat still hurts but it’s a lot better than it was earlier today.

I’m sure glad this thing seems to be brief, and I really really hope I didn’t give it to anybody I was hanging out with last night.

I think the plan for tonight is to catch up on LJ and email, watch Moulin Rouge (which [livejournal.com profile] cathijosephine lent me), get some calories into me, and go to sleep nice and early, and hopefully I’ll be all back to normal tomorrow.

Poor Jay :( *hugs*

I seem to have read of similar experiences in several entries now, so I wonder if this is something that is going around ala the Norfolk Virus a couple of years ago, or if it:s just coincindence. If it is like that one, it:ll pass quickly, anyway.

I think you mean the Norwalk virus? :) And yes, it's been going around -- most of the folks in the Mosaic/playgroup had it (as the kids and I did) the week before Christmas. Fortunately symptoms are fairly short-lived, though it's possible to transmit it for up to a week in any bodily fluid, and it lives for a while on surfaces -- so Jay, you may not want to have people over to your house for the next few days.

Big (gentle) hugs.

Y'know, when I wrote that comment, I was thinking "Norwalk or or Norfolk?" I knew it was one of the two. Maybe by the time I get back, it will have worked its way back out... :/
