Happy birthday to ghoti72! (Thanks to LJ’s new friends’ birthdays feature, I’m going to be much better about remembering birthdays from now on.)

And on another topic, the wonderful and deeply good docorion posted to his journal a letter he wrote to a mailing list for emergency physicians in response to a thread about “overuse” of emergency departments for routine care by people on Medicaid. If you know docorion, you pretty much know what his perspective is, and if you don’t, you should read it and find out. He totally rocks.

Indeed, I'm in Ottawa. However, I will be leaving very soon (next week) and possibly for good. I suspect we might... I know some people in the poly community here, one of whom used to be in a Boston Poly community. (& that would be Elyse)

I'll be in Boston soon, as a matter of fact. My boyfriend's family lives there, so it's my last stop on the Eastern half of this continent for a while. (I'm leaving from there to Seattle.)

I thought you might! Yeah, I know Elyse from when she was here, and luckytroll (whom my life partner was dating for quite a while, so we used to travel up to Ottawa fairly often). I also know Dana Peters; not sure if he travels in the same circles. I keep meaning to make it up there for a dinner, but since that means taking a Monday off work, I haven't gotten around to it yet.

When you're in Boston, you should check out the Poly Boston calendar at http://polyboston.org/calendar/ and see if there's anything you and/or your boyfriend would like to come to. The gatherings at the Diesel are fun, if somewhat chaotic, and there's lots of stuff going on.

Just a random gecko that was crawling on the inside of the screen on docorion’s and sionnagh’s enclosed porch when I went to visit them the most recent time. I got a couple pictures, and I wanted to get a bunch from different angles, but s/he scurried away after the second one. Let me know what your email address is (mine is local part “js”; domain “aq.org”) and I’ll send you those two pictures uncropped if you like.
