Lovely night last night. Met zzbottom, missdimple, and volta for dinner, after which we had a nice soak in volta’s hot tub. Then a subset of us played Carcassone. I think it was about 3:00am by the time I got back home. :-)

Oh, on a different topic, my second meeting with the personal trainer at the gym at work was pathetically boring. This meeting involved no actual exercise at all, just me sitting while he printed up results from last time, looked over them, and shared a few words about them with me, and then drilled down with the mouse in his personal training software looking for exercises to add to the list he’s going to give me next time. It took an hour, and if they were organized and prepared, it could easily have been done in ten minutes. Oh, well. Hopefully next time will be more interesting.

I love our friends too. Wasn’t particularly sexy, though. (Well, the conversation in the hot tub, about Montréal strip clubs, was.) I guess I’m just used enough to casual nudity that it doesn’t push my buttons unless it’s trying to. Sure felt nice, though. Yay hot tubs!

Which gym are you getting the training from?

When I set up with 24HrFit, my trainer, while setting me up, gave me my part as "homework", and then entered his part into the computer in "off time", while mentioning that his manager preferred that he do it the way that they did to you, to "burn up" a session.

The gym at work (at a university). The “personal trainers” there are undergraduates on co-op, and the appointments are pretty cheap, so I suspect Hanlon’s razor applies: Never ascribe to malice, that which can be explained by incompetence.¹

¹ By the way, when I was googling to try to figure out how to cite that proverb, I ran into a few sites (example) which attributed it to Napoleon Bonaparte. I don’t know if that’s correct or not
