OK, so for several days I've had no central heat at home. (Hopefully this will be fixed tomorrow morning.) Today there's no heat in my building at work, either. At least at home I have space heaters.

Well, it's hard to complain -- at least I have a roof over my head. I wonder how many homeless people in New England are going to die this winter. Hawai'i is starting to look pretty good... :-)

Yeah... I've been wondering the same thing. Even on a day like this it's too cold.... I've been looking for a place to donate blankets too for the homeless, and jackets, but I can't find any. :

Home is not a problem, just an annoyance, because I have a spaceheater in the office and a nice toasty waterbed to sleep in. (And I can run the heat for short periods of time if I put a bucket under the place where it leaks.) Work is a problem. And I can't type with gloves on. :-)

ah. my office is pretty durned cold today, too. we're all wearing our jackets, and typing for short periods of time. (then again,we're not professional geeks.)

oh yes you can! quite possible. Just not desirable for long periods of time.
