Probably you've answered this elsewhere, but what's the story behind the Emperor Norton gravestone in your icon?
If you mean “who was Emperor Norton”, he was a 19th-century San Francisco eccentric who proclaimed himself emperor, issued decrees (and often got annoyed when they weren’t carried out), corresponded with presidents and royalty, wandered around the streets in a uniform with ceremonial sword, and printed his own money, which local businesses honoured. He was kind of a San Francisco mascot.
If you mean, why am I using it, I needed an Emperor Norton userpic for a comment on somebody else’s journal recently, and I thought it would be useful for whimsical politics-related posts.
