So, I turn 40 on Saturday the 26th. I’d been meaning to do some big hedonistic thing with Rocks (male Rockettes) jumping out of a cake or something to celebrate, but it’s already the middle of August, so I’m going to fall back on the ever-popular
Birthday dinner at Addis Red Sea
on Friday the 25th. Dinner will be at 7:30. Wanna join me? If you’re on this filter I’d love to see you there!

Please RSVP here or by email. I’ll make a reservation probably the preceeding Wednesday.

(If you want outdated but more intimate information about what Addis is like, check out http://www.aq.org/~js/places/boston/addis/.)

PS — Until I was 30, I had hair past my waist. I am considering shaving my head bald for my 40th (and then growing it out again, maybe long, or maybe just fuzzy if the summers are too bad). No promises, but I thought I’d warn you.

Tentative yes, pending my confirming that I'm not away that weekend or the like. Yay! *smooch*

I believe I will be there Sunday as well! I do have concert plans Sunday evening with DD so our vague plan is to go to your place and leave in time for that.

And I'll be at dinner tonight -- do you know if anyone else is T-ing from Davis who might want to ride/walk together?

And early happy birthday, but advance regrets as I will be in LA (where I will raise a glass and toast to your happiness from afar).

If you won't jump out of a cake, maybe I will! Count me in. :-)

You're LESS likely to attend if beowabbit jumps out of a cake? I'd think the humor value of that would encourage attendence. :-)

Oh no, I'd *love* if he did! But according to his post, he isn't planning to. Maybe we can collectively change his mind. :-)

If my unpredictable health allows, I'll be there. One of my favorite people at one of my favorite restaurants, yay!

Forty, huh? Milestone birthdays often have an effect on people. Any particular effects you notice as this one approaches?

P. S. -- Let me be the first to raise the topic of birthday spankings. :-)

Desired, not desired, negotiable? :-)

And no, not in the middle of Addis Red Sea; I do have some understanding of decorum. :-)

(Although I’ve been feeling antsier to give than to receive lately.),/i>

I think either could probably fall under the heading of "birthday spankings." :-)

My experience in turning 40 myself and in watching others do so is that 40 is no problem for people who mostly are where they want to be, doing what they want to do. For people who are dissatisfied with their lives, 40 can be very angsty. But then, a wake-up call every ten years is probably good for people who aren't living the life they need to live. :-)

Yes! And thanks for having a round-number birthday. They seem to be my only excuse for breaking out of the dreary routine and seeing friends lately.
