Started Carpe Jugulum yesterday at the gym. Yay, Pratchett!

Still reading Smollett’s Humphry Clinker (on my PDAish thing), and my father’s book Luxury which is largely about it. I’m about halfway through Humphry Clinker and a quarter of the way through my father’s book.

Gave up on Stop Walking on Eggshells, because I wasn’t done with it by the time [livejournal.com profile] docorion had to get it back to the library.

Just bought V for Vendetta at the excellent comic store near my house, although I don’t think I’m going to have a chance to finish it before I see the movie. Also bought a random comic with a half-naked woman with a sword on the cover. I’m so predictable. Evidently bandits wore hot-pants in the Middle Ages. Who knew?

I also bought a bed for my room! Well, a sleeper sofa which I can use as a bed for now, and as a sofa when/if Tom moves out and I move upstairs. Nifty design. It will be delivered in a couple hours, so I'd better go clear out the space for it. I think having a real sofa bed that looks nice, raised off the floor, will go a long way towards making me feel less oppressed by how long it’s taking for me to unpack and settle in.

I bought that at the nifty furniture store a block down from the awesome comic store, which is a block from the shabu-shabu restaurant [livejournal.com profile] docorion says is so awesome, which is in the same building as the second-run $2.50 movie theater, all of which is across the street from our favourite Japanese restaurant, Kagawa, and the Hong Kong Eatery. This is all comfortable walking distance from my house. Have I mentioned lately how much I love my new town?

V is, imnvho, probably the second-best graphic novel ever. (Watchmen being the first, and this only works because I count Sandman as a series, not a novel. No one of the Sandman volumes is quite good enough to take either of the top two spots.) That said, it's a tough read. Dark and somewhat aggressively in your face.

Yay new furniture! I still kind of want one of those sofa beds too, but that'll wait a few years until I'm really and truly unpacked and certain I have room for it.
