Pride and other stuff

Very short because Beowabbit tired.
I’m really excited about Poly Boston marching in the Pride parade tomorrow! (Also pleased about the Weekly Dig article on the Boston poly scene. We’ve already gotten a few new subscriptions from that.)
Had an emotionally rough but very useful discussion yesterday. Then some work getting ready for Pride.
Then, in the wee hours of the morning, got email from our fileserver at work. It wrote to tell me it was hot. Very hot. Ambient temperature in our machine room peaked at 47 C, or about 116°F. [Edit: That’s actually temperature within the computer cases, but not right on the chips. Temperature in the open room was 92°F.] My boss was awake too, and got mail, and we both got in touch on line, and he called the Responsible Personages at work. Where, it turned out, nobody could find a key to our machine room, so my boss took a cab in. Whee!
Now, shower and bed.

Date: 2004-06-12 14:32 (UTC)I wish I could teleport. A march would be a really good thing for me right now, after being isolated from my culture for so long. To feel pride instead of needing to hide.

Date: 2004-06-13 14:26 (UTC)I so wish I could have teleported. It started me pondering ways to be able to get more involved in stuff in the future. (My last post or few.)
I was once in a Pride in NY City when I was very pregnant as a surrogate for a gay couple. I was in a wheelchair, and had taken off my shirt and wrote "breeders for queers" across my chest in watercolor. (I'm pan, but it got the point - and pun for those who cared to ask - across. ;)
Un?fortunately, it reverse sunburned on my chest, so when I washed it off I still had the writing in stark contrast. I figured it was no big deal, since I tend to always wear my shirt, unless there's a reason not to and I'm around friends. I figured nothing was coming up so I was safe.
I forgot about the doctor's visit, complete with the baby's parent present. I remembered right when the doctor started peering at my upper belly and mouthing words. ;) Of course they all wanted to read the whole thing and here the whole story. *grin*
