I know how you feel. The other day I didn't even have to lean over to try to pull the *something* growing out of my driveway. It had as thick a stalk like a pencil. Every year I try to discourage driveway-gardening by removing all the flora and filling in all cracks with asphalt and liquid driveway filler. I don't know where these things are getting their dirt to root in!

I kinda like mowable driveways (if not lawns generally). Let the soil breathe.

Trivially, I enjoy telling people how shaggy mane mushrooms can grow through asphalt, and Pisolithus arrhizus (dead man's foot) fungus can push up flagstones and even destroy sidewalk.
