It works if I use "bright white" paper; it's just that it *sometimes* works with the regular paper in the printers (depending who the University's vendor is this week), so I often forget to use the special paper. Thanks, though!
(As far as "label print programs", I found a Postscript Type 3 barcode font, and just composed the Postscript by hand. Had to tweak it a bit when we switched to our new jukebox, which needs the bars to be wider and consequently only supports six-character labels.)
