So, it’s been a busy but slightly weird few days. Saturday was extremely productive around the house. Sunday I was kind of sad and lonely — not specifically connected to the holiday, except insofar as lots of people I care about are travelling for it, so I don’t feel like I have my people around me the way I normally do (and I’ve been feeling a kind of mild background saudade¹ since Black Rose) and didn’t get much done. Yesterday (Christmas Day) was excellent; I got to spend some time on the phone with my entire family (mother and stepfather, sister and brother-in-law) on the phone, as well as with [livejournal.com profile] sionnagh, and I got a little Chickenfinger-nuzzling in there, too. Then I met [livejournal.com profile] ragingamazon for a traditional Jewish Christmas: chinese food and a movie. We saw Jean Renoir’s La Règle du jeu (The Rules of the Game) at the Brattle. I’m really glad I saw it, but I felt like I must be missing all the symbolism. Then we went to Mary Chung’s for always-yummy Chinese food; I hadn’t been there in a long time and I was glad that [livejournal.com profile] ragingamazon’s idea of a proper Christmas dinner matched mine.

And soon I’m going to be picking up [livejournal.com profile] plumtreeblossom at the airport — yay! And we have a busy evening planned.

And just now I got a phone call from [livejournal.com profile] cathijosephine, just about to return from California. It was actually about something to do with her new CPAP machine, which is very exciting — she got it just before she left and has used it three nights or so now. Hard to judge, since she’s still massively jetlagged from her and [no info]darxus’ trip to India, but early indications are hopeful.

OK, must run and do laundry and suchlike! Happy Boxing Day, everbody!
¹ for which excellent word I have [livejournal.com profile] minerva42 to thank.
