Empire Magazine has revealed its list of the 50 Greatest TV Shows ever:

[As mentioned in [livejournal.com profile] plumtreeblossom’s thread, this is a very idiosyncratic list. Empire is a UK magazine, so maybe some of the shows we Americans loved weren’t distributed over there.]

1. Bold the shows you watch/used to watch.
2. Italic the shows you've seen at least one episode of.
3. Post your answers.

The list. )

So this best 50 of all possible TV shows? Where is 60 Minutes? Where is Nova? Where is Masterpiece Theater?
and I agree. And a commenter also asks about M*A*S*H and All in the Family. My own personal list of the ten greatest TV shows (I don’t think I’ve seen enough TV to get to 50) would definitely include M*A*S*H and All in the Family, and probably also Hill Street Blues. [EDIT:Oh, and The Twilight Zone, and maybe The Mary Tyler Moore Show.]

Had a delightful date with [livejournal.com profile] plumtreeblossom, although it had a kind of stressy start because we were both running late and hit a bunch of minor disappointments at the movie theater. We watched Slumdog Millionaire, and it was wonderful! I love stories told in flashbacks like that. One of the minor disappointments is that the theater was much much more crowded than we expected, and we ended up having to sit in the very front row in order to find two seats together. But we loved the movie and had a great time.

Then we had dinner at Acapulco’s in Quincy Center (and shared a margarita — their “El Presidente” margarita en honor de nuestro nuevo Presidente. This morning we splurged for Firefly’s¹ yummy Sunday brunch buffet, which includes lots of barbecued meat as well as the standard breakfast fare. Then we took a little trip to the pet store to get cat food and pet grass before I drove her back home.

Oh, did I mention the glorious sleeping late both days part? It was glorious. I want to sleep till noon every day. I wonder if you can make a living by being a professional subject of sleep research. I’d be good at that.

¹ I don’t know how to write that. The noun I’m making possessive is Firefly’s, so I can’t just tack on ’s. “Fireflys’”? “Firefly’s’”? “Firefly’s’s”? Just “Firefly’s”?
