Had a fabulous visit with [livejournal.com profile] eisa this past weekend! I was so glad to get to see her. Don’t have time to do it justice, but one of the highlights was meeting a delightful sweetie of hers. (And we watched Shaun of the Dead, which I hadn’t gotten to when it was in theaters.)

In other news, I’ve shaved off my beard. I did that mainly so that my full-face CPAP mask would fit better; I’ve slept with it without the beard once, and it seems to help. (I couldn’t actually detect any leakage with the beard, but the mask seemed more effective last night judging by how I felt this morning.) I’ve had to switch to the full-face mask because I discovered recently that I no longer consistently wake up when I open my mouth in my sleep and I’m wearing the nose-only mask (and all the pressurized air rushes out my mouth), and if I’m blithely sleeping away with my mouth open and using the nose-only mask, the CPAP machine isn’t doing me much good.

I’m not thrilled with the way my face looks without the beard (it really makes my head look round and boyish), but if it makes a difference in how effective the mask is, it’s what I have to do. And it doesn’t look terrible.

My chin felt very cold yesterday morning. :-)

Now to bed!

I just got back from spending the night with [livejournal.com profile] cathijosephine and her dad in the hospital; she’s basically OK at this point but she sure had a miserable night. I saw her last night and she said that yesterday had been a really bad day for pain and nausea, and she hadn't really been able to eat or drink. So she knew when she decided she needed to go to the hospital that a big chunk of the problem was dehydration, and they put her on an IV right away. They also gave her very good anti-nausea drugs and not-as-effective-but-let-her-get-some-sleep pain drugs. It was a very good ER experience; she got pretty much what she needed in a very timely fashion. (Some of that was luck; it was very quiet most of the night. It started to get really busy just as we were waiting for her to be discharged.)

And [livejournal.com profile] docorion was working today, so she got a hug from him before she left; she was discharged just after he arrived.

I’m really glad her dad has been able to be here through this process. And I’m really glad for all the other people who have been supporting and visiting her, like [livejournal.com profile] woodwardiocom and [livejournal.com profile] buxom_bey and [livejournal.com profile] xmelancholia and [livejournal.com profile] treasonx and especially the ever-amazing [livejournal.com profile] darxus, whom I got to see briefly last night when I came over.

Now it’s time for me to sleep!
