hrafn quotes a very interesting tattoo idea. In short: get a tattoo of an extinct species, with a picture of the organism and its Linnaean name, as a reminder of what our species has wiped out, a sort of memento mori on a mix of grand and tiny scales. If I were getting a tattoo, I’m not sure I’d want it to be a representational picture, or to have words (although if I were going to tattoo words on myself, they’d have to be in Latin), but it’s a pretty thought-provoking idea.
In other news, sorry I haven’t posted much. Life has been very busy and very fun. A couple of the highlights of the last week were accompanyingcathijosephine to her condo signing, not one but two birthday dinners with friends, and finally getting to meet xmelancholia and treasonx’ wonderful big dogs (and being introduced to Invader Zim). But that, of course, doesn’t come close to doing justice to the wonderful past couple of weeks.
You know, I’m sort of sounding like a broken record these days. :-)
Work is frantically busy but productive. Getting ready for BiCamp is frantic, but fun — and I’m really going to need the vacation. And Kala arrives today! I’m so looking forward to seeing her!
