Free for the taking in Quincy: bedframe w/headboard & boxsprings, CD racks

Howdy. docorion is getting rid of his old bed, consisting of a wooden bedframe with four drawers, a quite pretty silver-grey curved metal headboard, and a Sealy queen-sized boxsprings, but no mattress. It’s available for the taking in Quincy.

Also, I have two nice wooden CD racks I’m giving away. They’re perfectly fine, I just can’t find a good place in my house for them, and since I always rip my CDs and play them on my MP3 player, I don’t have a strong need to have the CDs out. They are about 5' tall and maybe a yard wide.

I removed some of the cross-bars so that I could put books on the lower shelves, as you can see in the photos linked below. I (miraculously) even know where the cross-bars are, so I can give them to you with the shelves. If you want to put them back in, it’s slightly fiddly (all the cross-bars need to be aligned at once so you can screw the sides back on) but not hard.

(Also, I have a broken countertop dishwasher — needs a new door, because the window broke, and the thing that clips it onto your faucet doesn’t quite seal right, a fancy A/V switch that I could never get to power on, and a pair of devices that are supposed to plug in to power outlets and let you bridge Ethernet over your electrical wiring that never worked for me. If anybody is interested in any of those, let me know, and I’ll get you more information.)

Ha! and we have a queen-sized mattress (no boxspring) that we'll be looking to give away. But not before the end of the month. I'll likely post it onto CL or FS. But if anyone wants it...

I like the headboard... but I somewhat doubt it would fit in a little Saturn.

It sounds like someone has nabbed the bed, but if it winds up still available, my brother just bought a house in Quincy and is looking for a bed. (He was just a dork and took until now to call me back.)

Nope, the CD racks are taken, but the bed is still available, and I would love to get it out of the garage. (Moreover, weegoddess might still have the mattress available, although her mattress isn’t available until the end of August, and I need to get the boxsprings and bedframe out of the garage before then so a new tenant can use the storage.) Let me know if he’s still interested and has a vehicle. He can probably pick it up more or less any time; if Tom or I isn’t going to be here, then if the weather looks OK we can just take stuff out of the garage. (Probably easier if one of us is here, though.)

Actually, what are the odds of you being around to move it out today? If we're going to be in Quincy anyway, we can borrow the outlaws' van and pick it up en route. You're about 1/2 mile from my brother.

Zero, I’m afraid. If I’d known about this yesterday I could have made arrangements. You might want to call Tom and see if/when he’s going to be around.

(Actually, I’ll be here for another hour, but I’m scrambling to get things done by a deadline and literally won’t have time to do anything but unlock the garage door and point. Call me if you want me to just leave the garage key somewhere for you. But you’ll have to maneuver stuff around Tom’s bike, unfortunately, ’cause it’s parked right in front of the garage.)

I probably won’t be home by late morning, but Tom says he probably will, and that you’re welcome to call and make plans with him. Call me if you need his number; he thinks you have it.
