When Norman and I were watching the special features on the DVDs of "The Lord of the Rings," we saw absolutely everybody crediting Peter Jackson with the excellence of their efforts. And when we saw Ian McKellan say, "This actor needs a director," we thought, "Aw, Ian, you're just being modest. You know you're good."

Then we saw some quite reasonable actors stinking quite badly in "Revenge of the Sith." I guess the director really DOES have a big influence on the actors. We wondered what George Lucas could be saying to them to get those performances -- "More wooden, Sam! Make it really wooden."?

I actually thought R2D2 was the best actor in the movie, followed, of course, by Yoda. Yoda was the only one I was really rooting for or really cared about. Sad.
